Temperate Deciduous Forest
Location:The temperate deciduous forest is mainly in eastern Canada, the eastern United States, eastern Asia and western Europe. It is also in some Southern Australia and New Zealand areas. They occur above 23.5° north latitude and between 23.5° and 38° south latitude.
Climate:The temperate deciduous forest has about 75 cm to 180 cm rainfall every year, and equal precipitation throughout the year. The temperatures is from -30°C in winter to 30°C in summer.
Deciduous trees' fallen ,large and broad leaves in winter prevent the water loss and reduce breakage of limbs with heavy snow.Thick bark limits moisture loss from the trees. There are broadleaf trees such as oaks, maples, beeches. The broad leaves can capture sunlight too.
Wildflowers, are also common in the forest. They need some unusual strategies to survive on the heavily shaded forest floor. Many bloom early in the spring, when the big trees have not leafed out, and may shed their leaves and remain dormant underground through the remainder of the summer (of course through fall and winter too).
Squirrels, rabbits ,skunks, cougars, deer, wolves, bears and amphibians have many habitats that are provided by the forest lawyers.Squirrels ,chipmunks and blue jays store nuts and seeds in tree hollows.
Some mammals hibernate. Many birds migrates to warmer areas in winter.
